At-Home Couples Photography in Michigan

Couples photography doesn’t always have to be an event. It can simply be creating photos to remember what your life was like at this exact moment in time.

At-Home Couples Photography

Marissa is a photographer here in Michigan. Her and her partner, Cody were getting ready to move and wanted photos to remember the house and this time in their lives. For their couples photography session, we hung out around their house and took a little trip to a restaurant they’d frequent.

We started shooting at their house. Cody is a musician, so they have this HUGE record collection. We put one on and got some photos hanging out in their living room. They are in love and they dapped each other up. Love at its finest LOL. He played guitar for us and then their cat, Gibby, joined the party. Gibby’s cameo may be small, but who is the real star of the show??? It’s probably Gibby.

They wanted to have pictures on the front porch, so we played with some poses there. Then, we went for a walk with Gibby (we mustn’t forget that it’s really Gibby’s shoot, right??) because Gibby has a leash and goes on walks. Clearly, we had NO fun.

I just love in-home sessions. Everyone feels a little comfier. It’s so genuine and almost intimate in a way.

Couples photography at… A&W?

Marissa and Cody would often eat at their local A&W because it was so close to them. This location almost looks as if it were a local restaurant. It has this old school, very retro vibe. But, it is in fact, just a part of the A&W chain.

We ordered some food, got some cool photos at the bar (because this A&W has a really cool looking bar?), and went outside to eat at this cute picnic table. And also to mess around and be silly.

We played with so many cool ideas in the parking lot. It felt so real and so precious. It was like we were kids again playing on the playground. <3

Michigan Couples Photographer

Marissa and Cody wanted to have photos together that were representative of their normal everyday life. I loved that.

Instead of a photoshoot in some random pretty field (which totally has its time and place), this couples photography session was a date night where they got to do things they already like doing. Their photos are truly a representation of themselves and what their life is like. Professional photos don’t always have to be some big, dressed up occasion. You can wear the clothes you usually wear and are comfortable in. It can be fun and totally chill and completely ICONIC.
