Maddi and Adam are engaged! They booked my storytelling engagement photos package with a 2+ hour session. Which basically means unlimited everything. Unlimited outfits, unlimited time (obvi within the day and reason), unlimited locations. It’s basically living in abundance all wrapped up in an engagement photo shoot. It was summer and we really leaned into the summer engagement photo vibe.
We started out at their fave brewery here in Grand Rapids, Michigan—Brass Ring Brewing. It’s close to them and is a spot they tend to frequent. There is this cute outdoor space (pls say less) which we got some snaps in.
After the brewery, we had to make a stop at their place and I maaaayyyyyyy have forced my way onto their property (aka respectfully convinced them to let me get some photos of them there). They really didn’t think their house was photo-worthy BUT I gave them my spiel about in-home sessions and how genuine they feel. Your house doesn’t have to be perfect to be the perfect spot for photos. It makes everyone feel a little comfier to be in your own home. It feels so genuine to exist in your space and that makes a difference in the photos. I can work my magic in any home. It may not be “perfect”, but it will be 100% YOU and that’s better I think. Tea.
So, they caved and I think the world is grateful they did because LOOK at those pictures. The little bench moment? Them dancing??!?? Be still my heart.
What I loved the most was this little tree swing they have in their yard. When I brought up the idea they were like “we’ve never used that thing”. The past owner of their home had kids which is why it was there and in the entire year that they lived there, they never once felt like swinging. But they were down for my vision and lived in the moment and it was so fun. That little rope swing made for some of my favorite photos. I am obsessed.
Maddi mentioned wanting some photos on their patio area which is SUCH a cute idea. Photos at home give you this unique opportunity to honor your home and be able to see it and remember it down the road even if you no longer live there. Our homes give us safety and warmth and memories and that specialness is so often overlooked.
Once we got all the at-home goofiness and specialness-capturing out of the way, we grabbed what we ACTUALLY stopped there for and went for a little road trip.
About 45 minutes later we arrived at the shore of Lake Michigan. Again, a perk of the unlimited time storytelling package. We had all the time in the world (okay well, all the time in the day), so it didn’t even matter that the beach was a bit of a drive. It’s giving relaxed. It’s giving chill. It is truly one of my most genius ideas. LOL but really it made this shoot work perfectly for them because they really could have it all PLUS some photos at home playing on the rope swing.
We pull up to the beach with a picnic blankie and ice cold drinkities in the cooler—it is a perfect summer day. What better, more summer situation could there possibly be for summer engagement photos?? On Maddi and Adam’s inquiry form, they mentioned that they love going to the beach and sunbathing while listening to music together. I knew immediately those had to be their summer engagement photo vibes.
They cuddled up and laughed and generally had a fun, chill time. So cute. Then, we did some adventuring through the land by the beach. There were these cool trees that I HAD to incorporate. Some of the shots almost felt like they could have been pulled straight out of a Wes Anderson film. Iconic.
All in all, this is the kind of gallery you end up with when you opt for the unlimited time storytelling package. PLUS you get a really fun, wholesome date day with your person. It’s kind of a win-win-win because you ALSO get engagement photos that feel like your own little movie. You are the stars and your love is the story. There’s kind of no cons, now that I think about it. So IDK what you are waiting on!!! Fill out that inquiry form and get allllllllllllllll the deets.
